Since the Southlands have been under constant development pressure since 1971, it is hard to get a clear picture of the capability of the land. We know that a successful dairy operation was in place on the land until 1995, but what about the growing of crops?
In 1968 the Spetifore family wrote down a brief history of their family's farming activities in the delta to that date. In addition to telling the story of the Spetifore family's arrival to Tsawwassen and the clearing of their farm, the document also outlines the farm's total production for the year of 1968, "the best year we ever had" in the words of the author.
